What We Do
Wahine Divers is a whānau of wāhine who come together to share our passion for diving and the ocean. Our kaupapa is to nurture a sense of whanaungatanga, supporting and empowering each other to grow and thrive. We honor our cultural heritage and the principles of kaitiakitanga, caring for the ocean and its creatures as our tūpuna once did. With manaakitanga, we treat each other with respect, kindness, and generosity, creating a safe and inclusive space for wāhine to connect, learn, and share our stories. Through our mahi, we aim to inspire a love of the ocean that is grounded in tikanga and respect for Taiao, our precious natural world.
We continue to grow!
We understand the importance of connecting with
like-minded wahine. We have kaiako located all around Aotearoa, who are dedicated to organising meet and greets, events, and ruku sessions for wāhine divers in their areas.
How blessed I am to have the opportunity to gain such detailed tips, knowledge up to date information and support from Tina Rangi and supporting kaiako.
I loved sharing what was tough, what was fun and learn what needs more practice with each other and, especially, empowering us wāhine to strive and learn in an environment for women.
The smaller group allows closer collaboration between us women, Tina and the kaiako to absorb the knowledge and gain understanding of our gear, the Windy App for tide swells wind knots, knife skills to pawhara tuna, question time about rules and regulations and keeps a good ratio of teacher to student for safety and health purposes.
Gaining life skills to feed our whanau and pass on the passion to our loved ones has sown a seed of determination to continue this journey.
Thank you Wāhine Divers for this opportunity, specifically Tina Rangi and whanau.
Mauri ora!
Meet like-minded wāhine
We embrace the power of whānaungatanga and the aroha for shared adventures. Dive into a world where wāhine, as kaitiaki of our moana, unite to explore, learn, and celebrate. Join us in discovering the mauri beneath the wave.
How we can help.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver, we welcome you to join. Our community is dedicated to empowering wāhine, building confidence. By connecting with like-minded wāhine in your region, you’ll have the opportunity to build lasting friendships and explore the beauty of the moana.
Wāhine that understand.
We understand the importance of prioritising sustainability and responsible harvesting practices while learning to dive safely. It can be a valuable skill for those wāhine who are interested in obtaining kaimoana for their whānau in a direct and hands-on way, while also passing down this knowledge to our tamariki, ensuring they too can become kaitiaki of the moana.
